Laurie's story
Laurie and her twin sister Lisa founded Murphy Studios as a place for the family to share what they make and do. For her, that means teaching and performing, long-form improv, and directing theatre productions. It means curating vintage and gently used clothing for resale, and selling her handmade tree ornaments, as well. It also means officiating weddings on PEI. She became a marriage commissioner because she believes a wedding should feel like the people getting married — personal, alive, and worth remembering.

Laurie is a licensed marriage commissioner who officiates weddings across Prince Edward Island. She works with couples to create ceremonies that are personal, warm, and genuinely theirs — whether that's a backyard gathering of twenty or a formal celebration of two hundred. She's comfortable with humour, with tears, and with everything in between.
